A Simple Exercise To Shift Your Outcomes With Money

Here's what all my coaching clients learn when they work with me: if you're running into a challenging pattern with money, the first place to look is your subconscious mind.

Our mindset has a tremendous impact on our financial flow. If we want to change our outcomes with money, we have to look to the core beliefs we hold about it.

Today, I want to share a simple yet powerful exercise with you, that when applied, can make a big difference in shifting your core beliefs with money.

It only works if you do it all the way through! So take a moment, right now, and try it out.

Transforming core money beliefs

Step 1. Define your trigger point.

Where do you get triggered with money? Where do you experience lack? This is the first place to look.

If there currently isn't a trigger, look at your goals, and see what outcomes seem the most unbelievable or unattainable.

Here are some questions to get you started:

  • Do you believe you don’t have what it takes to have the prosperity you desire, or that there's something flawed about you in some way?

  • Do you believe you don’t have the love, support, or resources you need?

  • Do you feel like a victim of your circumstances, or that you don’t have any control or influence over your financial outcomes?

  • Do you find yourself blaming others (your family, your boss, society, the government, etc.) for your limitations or lack? If so, why?

  •  Do you believe you're not valuable enough to experience your needs being met? Or your desires being met?

2. Go into the underlying emotion.

Once you've identified your trigger point, go fully into the experience and emotions.

What thoughts or feelings do you notice go along with the lack?

For example:

  • I work really hard, but don’t make as much as I’m worth.

  • No matter how much I work, it still won't be enough to provide me with what I truly want.

  • I just can't trust myself with money, I always end up overspending.

  • I'm not where I should be financially given my age.

  • I feel shame about my financial circumstances.

  • I feel angry I didn't learn financial literacy from my parents.

  • I feel frustrated I can't get the results I want with money.

What thoughts typically run through your mind around this pattern? Take a moment, and fully go into the underlying emotion.

3. Identify your greatest fear.

Next, go further into the storyline. What are your greatest fears?

For example:

  • I'll never be able to have total financial freedom in my life.

  • Even if I make more money, I won't have enough for what I most desire.

  • What if it all goes away and I'm back at square one?

  • What if I'm poor when I'm older, and can't take care of myself?

What's the biggest fear for you?

4. Ignite the transformation.

What would the transformation of these beliefs look like?

For example:

  • Financial freedom is defined by me, and I have the power to influence it with my intentions, my commitments, my actions, and my willingness.

  • If I'm in touch with my needs and desires, value them, and communicate them where appropriate, or send out prayers to have them met, there's a much higher chance of them getting met, or of generating creative ideas to get there.

  • I can earn more income by showing up for my life and going where I need to go. When I show up for myself, it gives me confidence and that confidence helps me earn more.

  • I'm still young enough to earn, invest, and grow my income. Maybe I don’t even have to retire at a specific age, but rather, I can continuously strive for my long-term goals and enjoy the progress.

What do you truly desire as the outcome?

5. Build a logical path to your desired outcome.

What evidence do you have that your desired outcome is not only possible, but totally doable? Have you seen others accomplish it? When the fear is removed, what opportunities do you notice?

For example:

  • I see that my friend Jane has accomplished this level of affluence. I've also seen many others who have this level of prosperity, and I can learn how to do the same.

  • What is available for others can be available for me, or something even better that's more aligned for me.

  • When I look into the past, I can notice many successes I've had when I was determined and intentional. I can recreate this level of success for myself in the area of money.

  • I'm intelligent, capable, and valuable, and here are some examples of that (list them).

  • When I work in partnership with the cosmos, miracles happen.

What examples, proof, and evidence do you have that your desired outcome is a real potential in your life?

6. Write out your desired outcome in paragraph form.

Write your desired outcome into a paragraph that feels amazing to read.

For example:

  • I feel secure in knowing the money I earn from the incredible endeavors I get to be a part of are just icing on the cake, because I can develop security within myself.

  • My income has both contracted and expanded before, so when I'm in contraction, I know that I'll be in financial expansion again at some point.

  • If my savings are low or nonexistent, it doesn’t have to be forever into the future. I have agency, I can change my ways and build my savings muscle.

  • My future doesn't have to look like my past. My goals are constantly evolving and as I learn more about myself, my limitations and my character assets, those goals can become more aligned with who I am.

  • The success that's aligned for my path has to be available for me, especially if I fully show up for my life.

Take a moment and write out your paragraph now.

7. Practice and refine.

Read your paragraph aloud to yourself daily. Particularly when you wake up in the morning and before bed. Refine it over time and continue to hone it in.

By simply connecting with this paragraph each day for a month, you'll make a significant difference in your relationship with money. Start noticing and documenting the results that begin to happen in your life!

You have the power to transform what your unconscious believes about money, and the stories it tells you about what's possible for you.

Without this shift in your core beliefs, you can learn all the practical money tools in the world, and yet you won't have results.

Shifting the mind is the first step in my holistic system with money, because it's essential to having a new experience.

When we have a Money Mindshift, we can start to make financial decisions from a solid, grounded, and intuitive place.
