Feeling Behind with Money? Let’s Talk About the Real Block.

If you're feeling behind with money, the real block may be much different than what it seems on the surface.

Financial shame silently holds back entrepreneurial spirits more than almost any other factor.

You know that nagging feeling when you check your numbers or glance at your bank balance?

Or that moment you see your latest credit card statement, and your heart skips a beat, as that voice whispers, "I should be in a much better place than this"?

What if I told you that feeling doesn't have to hold you back?

What if this "feeling" or the "shoulds" are the key to unlocking your financial power?

Here’s one of my favorite shame acronyms, reimagined as a Priestess of Finance Shame acronym:

S.H.A.M.E.: "Should Have Already Mastered Everything" turned into “Sacred Healing Activates Money Energy.”

The Shame Cone: A Downward Funnel of Energy

We tend to carry shame around every aspect of money that we feel we should have already mastered, beating ourselves up with what feels like a shame cone.

We think things should be different, even though we may not have been taught financial literacy or healthy money habits by our families.

The shame cone is a metaphor to describe the emotional spiral that shame creates.

Because it narrows our perspective, limits our options, and pulls us into a vortex of self-blame, fear, and avoidance.

Here is what it looks like:

At the top of the cone, we start with a triggering event:

  • A money mistake

  • Overspending

  • Financial disorganization

  • Not meeting a goal

  • Seeing a high credit card balance

Then we move down the cone through increasingly uncomfortable emotional experiences:

  • Embarrassment

  • Self-criticism

  • Guilt

  • Isolation

  • Hopelessness

  • Collapse or avoidance

By the time we're at the bottom of the cone, shame feels like a trap—our nervous system is locked down, and we're stuck in survival mode (freeze, fawn, or dissociate).

We actually can’t access creativity, higher thought, or financial clarity from this place.

Reversing the Shame Cone = Widening the Nervous System Window

So how do we move out of the shame cone?

You start by interrupting the spiral:

  1. Name it: “I’m feeling shame.” (This brings it into the conscious mind.)

  2. Normalize it: “Everyone has shame. This doesn’t mean I’m broken.”

  3. Reframe it: Use my custom SHAME acronym—e.g., Sacred Healing Awakens Money Energy. This means focusing on healing your money beliefs.

  4. Restore safety: I suggest doing this by using Financial Hypnosis to calm and relax the nervous system, and to unravel the root origins of money shame patterns.

Leveraging Financial Shame for Business Growth

In working with hundreds of entrepreneurs, I've witnessed a pattern: successful business owners can feel secretly inadequate because they haven't "figured out" every aspect of their finances yet.

Or they think they need more training, more certifications, or more accolades.

The pressure is immense.

You're expected to masterfully juggle cash flow, expenses, investments, and tax planning—all while growing your business and serving your clients.

When reality doesn't match expectations, that voice creeps in: "Everyone else has this figured out. Why don't I?"

Here's my question for you: Do you ever catch yourself believing you should already be a financial guru in your business?

What if I told you this feeling—when channeled correctly—could become your greatest asset?

Today, I'm showing you exactly how to transform financial hesitation into your competitive advantage.

Here's your roadmap to turn financial shame into concrete business results:

Step 1: Identify Your Money Shame

Before we can transform your financial mindset into a business advantage, let's identify exactly what's holding you back.

Which of the following do you most identify with?

✨ “The Expertise Gap”

Do you feel behind because you "should" already understand your business finances better than you do?

Deep down, do you question whether you have what it takes to master the financial side of your business?

Does financial management feel like your entrepreneurial blind spot?

✨ “The Alignment Check”

Is your discomfort actually signaling that your current financial decisions aren't supporting your business vision?

Are your spending patterns contradicting how much money is actually available?

Take a moment to identify which resonates most strongly—this is where your biggest growth opportunity lies.

Step 2: Transform Your Financial Mindset into Business Growth

Once you’ve identified where your financial shame is coming from, it's time to transform it into power.

As a business owner, you already have the ambition and drive to succeed—you just need the right tools and mindset to make it happen with your finances.

Here’s how to start taking control:

✨ If you answered “The Expertise Gap”

Take 15 minutes to list your financial strengths—both personal and for your business. What are you already good at? What financial wins have you had? Maybe you improved cash flow, lowered debt, or finally organized your accounting. Celebrate those wins!

Invest in financial education: Just like any other part of your business, financial management is a skill that can be learned.

Pick one area to focus on. Choose a financial skill or strategy to sharpen. It could be budgeting, forecasting, saving or tax planning. Commit to mastering this one area over the next 90 days.

Start by committing 30 minutes a day to learning the basics—be it through online courses, books, or Financial Coaching. The key is focused action.

✨ If you answered “The Alignment Check”

Reevaluate your cash flow: Is your pricing in sync with where you want your business to go?

Are you spending on things that don’t directly impact income growth?

It’s easy to fall into the trap of spending on things that seem urgent but are more expensive than what you can afford.

Take a step back and prioritize spending on what will bring the most ROI and align with your current income. NOT your future income, but where your income is right now.

Set up a system for regular check-ins. Whether it’s a weekly cash flow review or monthly financial health assessment, regularly checking in with your numbers will prevent that feeling of being out of control.
